We are very happy to announce that our Sunday Spay-n-Neuter-a-Thon was a great success!
We performed a grand total of 40 surgeries. 26 female cats were spayed and 14 male cats were neutered. They are all back at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society waiting for their forever homes. Our day started off early with a 7:30am team meeting to get organized and by 8:00am the cats started to arrive.
When they arrived the cats were given an ID collar, weighed and all their paperwork was filled out.
They were then moved to the pre-op area where our team of Technicians examined and got them ready for surgery.
We had 3 Doctors performing surgery: Dr. Sarah, Dr. Shari and Dr. Dave. The Doctors started surgery around 8:30am and last surgery was completed around 4:00pm.
After surgery the cats were moved to a post-op area where our volunteer vet students and Technicians monitored their recovery.
Next we moved the cats to the entrance way where they could enjoy the heat from the fireplace while they awaited their ride back to the shelter.
We all really enjoyed our day and were so happy to volunteer for such a great cause!
