Katherine Ferchat
Registered Veterinary Technician
I’m Katherine Ferchat, a proud Mississauga native, and my journey into animal health care began on a snowy day in January 2003. That was the day Maya, a Brittany Spaniel, joined our family after much persuasion on my part. Getting Maya was a turning point for me; as a young teenager, I realized that my true calling was caring for and working with animals.
I graduated with honours from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician program in 2008 and have been a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) at NOAH since April 2014. My work here is incredibly rewarding, especially when it involves working closely with pet parents and nursing hospitalized patients back to health. There’s an indescribable joy in seeing pets recover and reunite with their families, happy and healthy once again. Additionally, I take pleasure in managing NOAH’s inventory, ensuring we always have what we need to care for our patients.
Outside of the hospital, my life is filled with the joy of spending quality time with my husband and our two daughters. Our family has a big heart for rescuing animals; Ava, an Australian Shepherd Lab mix; Harriet (Hera), an orange domestic medium hair; and most recently, Tundra, a dilute tortoiseshell who made a long journey from Nunavut to join our family, have all found their forever home with us.
We’re an outdoor-loving family, cherishing every moment we get to spend together in nature. Hiking, camping, and cottaging are some of our favorite activities. In the winter, we embrace the snow, enjoying tobogganing, snowmobiling, and skating. And when it’s time to wind down, you’ll find us indoors, watching movies, reading, or cheering on our favorite sports teams.
